The Old (Young)Man and the Sea (Blog)

A few weeks ago I was lazily strolling the streets of Key West; over indulging in conch fritters, cliché cheeseburgers in paradise, and enough whiskey to make Hemingway look like a teetotaler.  I was on a trip that was half vacation and half a re-declaration of my independence. In between the suds and sun, I made it a point to slip in a tour of Ernest Hemingway’s Estate. After choking on the admission fee and being hissed at by all the six toed cats in existence, I realized I needed to channel my inner Hemingway and put pen to paper once again.

Over the past five years I’ve been a prolific ghost writer and editor: writing op-eds and speeches for politicians, MBA papers for friends, and personal statements for acquaintances. In the same time I haven’t written anything dynamic for or about myself. With the inspiration of the Hemingway tour and maybe the confidence from a whiskey or two, I’m embarking on my first blog in my own name. Topics will be varied; from life caring for someone with Multiple Sclerosis, finding a new job, and doing all that those in their late 20s do; to ranting and raving about economics, politics, policies, and sports.

Join me on the journey. I can’t promise everything will be interesting, thought-provoking, or even lucid, but then even William Faulkner thought Hemingway was a lightweight at times.
